Sam's orchestral training has led him to play with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Sir John Eliot Gardiner's 'Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique', the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa, the Octandre Ensemble & tours with Russell Watson, the Kölner Akademie, Musica Saeculorum & the Grand Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared at the BBC Proms, on BBC Television, BBC Radio 3, played on records released by EMI, Signum Records, BIS, Convivium Records & performed at all of the major concert halls in the UK & many throughout Europe.


As well as his work as an orchestral musician, Sam has always had a busy interest in many other genres of music. This has seen him work with Gomez (Mercury Prize winners), Paul Weller, Deep Purple, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Myles Sanko, Rae Morris, Diagrams, Hannah Peel & Woman's Hour among others. As a session musician his credits include recording for artists including Aston Merrygold, The Struts, Bo Bruce (Top 10 album Official UK Charts), The Chemistry Set, The Memory Band & Chas Palmer-Williams (Lightyear), providing trumpet & other brass for producers including Cass Lowe, Eliot James, Rick Parkhouse & George Tizzard (Red Triangle Productions), Mike Lindsay, Leo Abrahams, Joel Pott (Athlete) & Tom Marsh.


Sam has performed live on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 4, BBC1's 'The One Show', Label Pop (Paris), TSF Jazz Radio (Paris) & Radio Nova (France). Touring extensively throughout Europe, Sam has been fortunate to play & record at venues & festivals such as Abbey Road Studios, BBC Maida Vale Studios, Angel Studios, The Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, Birmingham NIA Arena, KOKO, Amsterdam Paradiso, Ancienne Belgique (Brussels), Duc Des Lombards (Paris), Salle Pleyel (Paris), Bestival, Haldern Pop Festival, Nice Jazz Festival, Dockville Festival, End of the Road Festival, Tramlines & many more.


Sam is often busy recording from his professionally equipped home studio for many top tv, game, film & media composers (BBC/Disney/Ch4/FIFA) & has himself co-written trailer music & library music for Altitude Music and BMG Production Music. Combining his professional background as a trumpet player & his love of electronic music, Sam records & produces ambient brass arrangements of electronica tracks inspired by artists such as Aphex Twin, Oneohtrix Point Never & Boards of Canada.

Sam is a London based trumpet player, arranger & composer. Since graduating from the Royal College of Music in 2010 (with the support of the Sir Philip Shelbourne Award for Brass & the Newcomen Collet Foundation), he has enjoyed an exciting & varied career across many genres of music.
